Summer Entry Plan of Study–with 4th Quarter Vacation

Film Scoring Certificate

Full-time students who wish to complete their program in 6 quarters, including a 4th quarter vacation, should select darker shaded courses in each specific quarter, illustrated by the vertical columns of the chart. Lighter shaded courses indicate available course options which may be taken to achieve full-time status during the specific quarter. Most Film Scoring courses have limited spaces; early enrollment is recommended.

Note: This plan requires that F-1 Visa students take at least 4 additional units during the 3rd quarter and 4 additional units during the 5th quarter to maintain full-time enrollment status.

Software Requirement (4 units)

* All film scoring certificate students must be proficient in a digital audio workstation or DAW. Students should select either MUSC X 480 Introduction to Logic Pro or MUSC X 479.12 Introduction to Pro Tools to fulfill their software requirement. If you are already proficient in another DAW such as Digital Performer or Cubase, you may petition to waive this course requirement by emailing entertainmentstudies@uclaextension.edu.

† Courses require access to and some proficiency in a sequencing workstation in which audio can be recorded and synced to video (a sequencing workstation is software that combines audio and MIDI recording, editing, and a variety of other tools for working with music and sound on a computer).
